Exciting Opportunity – Multi-Skilled Service & Installation Engineer

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected manufacturing company seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Service & Installation Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working with specialist machinery. The position offers a combination of workshop-based engineering, customer site installations, commissioning and servicing, with opportunities to travel throughout the UK and overseas.

Our client operates within the food processing industry, supplying specialist equipment to customers across a range of manufacturing environments.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Service & Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing specialist industrial machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and customer downtime is kept to a minimum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing and commissioning specialist manufacturing equipment at customer sites throughout the UK and internationally.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Carrying out planned maintenance, servicing and repairs.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting machinery issues.
  • Working closely with customers to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • Repairing and refurbishing machinery at the company’s manufacturing facility when not attending customer sites.
  • Supporting continuous improvements and maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Representing the company professionally during customer visits.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in engineers with a strong mechanical and electrical background who enjoy practical, hands-on engineering.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a Service Engineer, Installation Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar position.
  • Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery or manufacturing equipment.
  • The ability to diagnose problems and provide practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • A flexible attitude towards working hours and travelling within the UK and overseas.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Knowledge of PLC/HMI systems or programming.
  • Experience within food processing, packaging or industrial manufacturing.
  • City & Guilds qualifications or an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Previous machinery installation and commissioning experience.

Full training can be provided in PLC/HMI systems, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to expand their technical skills.

What’s on Offer?

Our client offers a stable, long-term opportunity with a respected manufacturing business, alongside an attractive benefits package including:

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • Annual company performance-related bonus
  • 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days with service
  • Company pension scheme

  • Company sick pay scheme
  • Workwear provided
  • Staff meals and company events
  • Ongoing training and technical development
  • Opportunities for UK and international travel
