In our May 2025 LinkedIn poll, we asked our network: “What’s the most effective way to improve workplace culture?” The results highlight a clear consensus around one key theme—trust and openness.
A significant 67% of respondents selected Transparency from Management as the most effective way to improve culture. This strong majority reflects the growing expectation for honest communication, clear decision-making, and open dialogue between leadership and staff. When management is transparent, it builds trust, boosts morale, and fosters a more engaged and resilient workforce.
Flexible working arrangements followed with 22% of the vote, showing continued demand for autonomy and a healthy work-life balance. Flexibility is increasingly seen as more than a perk—it’s a core element of modern workplace culture that supports productivity and employee well-being.
Employee recognition programs were chosen by 11%, reinforcing the importance of acknowledging achievements and contributions. While not the leading choice, it’s clear that recognition still plays a meaningful role in shaping positive workplace environments.
Interestingly, Team-building activities received no votes in this poll. This may suggest that while social initiatives have their place, they are not viewed as a standalone solution for improving culture without more foundational support from leadership.
These insights point to a shift in expectations: culture starts at the top. At Shepherd Stubbs Recruitment, we continue to support businesses in building strong, people-focused environments—because it’s always about the right people, in the right place, with the right leadership.
