JOB DESCRIPTION

Multi-skilled Service Engineer for this highly regarded, long established manufacturing company to cover site installations and service break downs working in the Food Processing sector both in the UK and overseas.

SUMMARY
In this interesting, varied, “hands-on” role working on a range of food processing equipment and resolving customer service breakdowns. In this instance having both electrical and mechanical knowledge would be a big advantage. PLC/HMI programming knowledge also be an advantage but full training in this aspect would be given if needed as part of the full training programme available. City & Guilds Qualifications/Apprenticeship in Engineering an advantage.

OVERVIEW
Directly responsible for the day to day running of any repair or refurbishment projects and connected activities incurred on the shop floor / on site. Responsible for all aspects including mechanical and electrical repairs, H&S, inspection. Whilst on installations and breakdowns reporting to the Service and Spares Manager and onsite to the Production Manager/Production HR Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Compliance with Company policies regarding HR; displaying good motivation and discipline while working in the factory/on site
• Correct use and maintenance of equipment used on the shop floor and during site installation/service
• Collation and issue of information and documentation
• Professional and confident rapport when liaising with shop floor personnel and customers during site visits
• Major role in risk assessments and method statements
• Reducing machinery down time by working flexible hours
• Assist in obtaining maximum output in line with quality and professionalism providing complete customer satisfaction
• Carry out a policy of value engineering when working in the factory / on site
• Availability on occasions for work during unsociable hours, B/Hs or night shift
• On occasion being available on a shared rota system to participate in Christmas cover for site breakdowns between Boxing and New Year Day.
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene, discipline, attendance and time keeping

HOURS & OVERTIME
39 hours per week, Mon-Fri (10 min break at 10am and ½ hour lunch-break at 1pm)

Specific daily hours:
Monday 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 4.00 pm
Tuesday 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Wed/Thurs 7.30 am - 1.00 pm / 1.30 pm - 5.00 pm
Friday 7.30 am - 12 noon (unless working overtime).

Overtime normally available paid at 1.5 times hourly rate Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. (A reasonable level of overtime expected as requested by Supervisor / Manager).
